MTB Kerala

"First MTB championship in India featured in the UCI Events Calendar"

The Department of Tourism, Government of Kerala under the aegis of Kerala Adventure Tourism Promotion Society (KATPS), District Tourism Promotional Council Wayanad (DTPC) and Cycling Federation of India (CFI) has jointly busted the myth that Kerala is more about leisure than adventure. MTB, a mega mountain biking event into its 6th season this year has thrown the spotlight on the wild and fun filled side of this quaint state.

International Mountain cycling event - MTB Kerala 2019 is the 6th edition of the mega sporting event that has placed Kerala on the global map of Mountain Biking. MTB Kerala has been included in the MTB championship calendar of Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) , the Swiss based world governing body for sports cycling and oversees international competitive cycling events.

The earlier four editions of this sporting event took the riders on a tour of exploration through Kerala. The forests of Thenmala and the beautiful beach of Kovalam held riders in awe in the first edition of MTB back in 2012. In 2014, 2015 and 2018, the tea plantations and the wilderness of Wayanad set the background for MTB Kerala. In 2016, the fourth edition explores the dense forests of Kottur in Thiruvananthapuram and this year at tea plantations of Wayanad is again ready to host the action packed cycling days.

This year MTB Kerala is back with its 6thedition promising riders an experience all the more thrilling and challenging than ever before. The expansive track stretches for 5 kilometers through the Priyadarshini Tea Plantation is at an altitude of 3000 feet. The track offers an immense thrill during its diver course which encompasses terrains like dirt, rocky and water. It demands the endurance of a rider who would love to enjoy nature in its pristine form.
